But many times, weather is also an important part of the traveling equation. Severe weather or rain/snow storms can impact your route.
The app Weather on the Way does a great job informing you about both the weather forecast and driving route. After starting navigation for long trips, you can see the weather conditions precisely when you will be driving through.
When planning, you can also pick an alternate route wth the best weather. You can even choose a time of departure up to seven days in the future.
To keep you informed while traveling, you can also see a live Doppler radar of any snow or rain.
And just in time for the winter holiday season and road trips to see family and friends, the app has gotten a great new feature.
With CarPlay support, you can now use the app on your compatible car infotainment system. You can see the weather radar, National Weather Service alerts, check weather conditions, and see turn-by-turn navigation.
The app is the first to bring live radar data to CarPlay so it had to follow strict guidelines, so for an animated radar, you will have the check the iPhone version when stopped.
Weather on the Way is a free download on the App Store for the iPhone and all iPad models. The CarPlay support is part of the Pro package. That’s $4.99 per month or $24.99 yearly. There is also a single, lifetime purchase for $84.99.
Other Pro features include alternative routes, trip forecast up to one week in advance, and additional weather details like wind, visibility, and more.
There is a seven-day free trial of the Pro version for yearly subscribers.
Especially for long trips in parts of the U.S. with severe weather or snow, Weather on the Way can be an invaluable tool to help not run into any surprises while on the way.
